Church History

Bishop Johnny Johnson founded the church in 1985 under the banner of the Church of God in Christ. The church was formerly known as Barnwell Mission under Elder Walter Robinson until he was called to Orangeburg in 1986.

Elder Isaac Moultrie was assigned to pastor in 1986 -1987. After a year of no designated pastor, Bishop Johnson began to seek direction from God for a pastor. Minister Belton Williams was willing to take on the task. After hearing from God, in 1988, Minister Williams changed the name to Greater Faith Ministries. In 1993, Elder Belton Williams changed the name from Greater Faith Ministries to Greater Faith Ministries Incorporate because of the adequate spiritual growth of the church.

Under the dynamic leadership of Chief Apostle Belton and Pastor Jennifer Williams, the church has added a new sanctuary, a fellowship hall, and a progressing life center.

Chief Apostle Williams’s vision is to develop a people for God’s Kingdom through applying the word to their daily lives in the community, homes, jobs, and church.
